Innovative Mentoring, Coaching, Support and Supervision for Community Engagement, Community Development and social inclusion practitioners

One of the key success factors in community engagement, community development and social inclusion efforts is the reflective innovative role undertaken by the practitioner. While effective community development efforts are based on a clear principals and frameworks each effort has a unique set of assets and circumstances to build on.

Practitioners just like many other professions need support, coaching, guidance and an opportunity to reflect on their work in a structured way. While many organisations realise the importance of this support there are often barriers to accessing appropriate mentoring including time, financial resources and assess to appropriate mentors.In order to assist organisations to provide appropriate support, supervision and mentoring to community engagement, community development and social inclusion staff, Inspiring Communities are now able to provide on line support for direct practitioners and their managers.

Because these sessions are conducted on line, the time, day and duration of the session can be flexible. Sessions conducted on line in your office is both convenient and cost effect. The session will be both audio and video with no software costs.

It is very common for managers to supervise staff without direct experience of community development practice. Many managers we have supported say they are often initially unsure about what is considered as good practice, how to evaluate practice and outcomes and integrate community development efforts into organisational planning and development.

Managers have found these sessions to be of great value in clarifying roles and understanding practice, employing, educating and supporting practitioners.

Ted Smeaton
Sessions will be conducted by Ted Smeaton. Ted has over 25 years experience in community development, management and consultancy relating to community engagement, community development and social inclusion. He has experience in provided support to new practitioners to highly experienced practitioners and managers. He has established nine new community organisations and been a senior manager in a large Australian NGO.He has taught human resource management, strategic planning and community development at the University of Technology Sydney and The University of Western Sydney

Ted while based in Australia is a facility member of the ABCD Institute at the University of Northwesten Chicago USA and a principal of ABCD Global Consulting. He works in Australia and internationally. What participants have said about Ted’s sessions-
